The Artist: Gloria Wallington
Gloria Wallington was born and educated in London. She graduated with distinction from Central School of Art & Design and studied as a mature student at the Sir John Cass School of Art, City of London under Mervyn Peake, Cecil Collins, and Eduardo Paolozzi. Since then she has taught at various london Art Schools as well as Washington University in St. Louis, MO and the Gymnasium Sankt Christophoros, Werne A.D. Lippe NRW in West Germany. Gloria was the Art Editor of Transactions Magazine out of Rutgers University, NJ before returning to Britain to teach Typography and Design at Keil School, Dumbarton. She has now retired and has lived in Orkney since 19867.
Gloria paints primarily landscapes in oils but has expiramented with the medium of monotype to combine the adventure of exploring Celtic myth and Pictish fantasy all the while giving her the opportunity to discover new elements and insights into herself. The power of these images travels through the centuries.
