Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) married, as his second wife, Marie-Louise (1791-1847), Archduchess of Austria, in April 1810; the Emperor and Empress escaped unharmed from the embassy; an important consequence of the conflagration was the improved organisation by Napoleon of the firemen of Paris;
