The Artist: Eva Skierska

Born in Poland, Eva Skierska creates her whimsical paintings at her home studio in Toronto. She began pursuing art at a very young age and began experimenting with painting. Fascinated by the beauty and simplicity of old East European Icons, she started to copy them step by step, learning the technique, and most importantly, the patience necessary to complete a painting. Eva completed various programs in several acclaimed institutions including the Academy Of Fine Arts in Lodz, Poland, Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm, Sweden and the Ontario College of Arts and Design in Toronto. With her background in art and design, Eva’s art is left to no chances. Small or large, the craftsmanship is never sacrificed in her paintings. The image forms the core, around which sensitivity to the subject as well as an understanding of its nature and purpose is built upon. She creates her pieces over a few weeks, painting with the smallest brushes, tint after tint, detail after detail, to achieve the desired effect. Eva’s paintings cover a variety of subjects, but showcasing her playful imagination, she blends the classic and the comic in each creation, leading to the creation of works that are unique, unexpected pieces of art.
