Jae Dougall, inspired by the modern Dutch painters, has evolved a unique and immediately recognizable style. Her compositions have a lyrical rhythm with tilting perspectives. Starting with dark grounds, Jae surfaces to light and structure. Experiencing her dazzling, post-impressionist oils on canvas is like being inside jewels. Fluid lines and lush patterning are the dominant features of her work and in many recent paintings, Jae focuses on the design qualities of frontal nudes adorned with jewelry and flowers in their hair. Her still lifes and interiors are equally impressive. She incorporates pottery and china with other still life objects on her ever- tilting surfaces. Her list of private collections is extensive and limited and open edition prints of her work are available through Winn Devon and Canadian Art Prints, respectively.
