Biography

Annick Bouvattier was born in Nevers in the mid-sixties. Her father, an art lover, passed on his love of art to her at an early age. After her baccalaureat, she continued to study fashion design but rapidly moved towards the entertainment industry. In early 1990, she decided to concentrate on painting. After two years of self-teaching, between 1992 and 1996, she studied under Pierre Ramel, the disciple and assistant of Mac’Avoy, who taught her the knife oil technique whereby she smoothes oil painting onto the canvas, without thickness, in complete transparency. Today, she paints women, alone or with others, in almost empty town apartments, furnished with shade and light.
