Biography
Kathy Sharpe grew up North of Chicago in an area where the emphasis was on culture as well as education. She served as the liaison between her grammar school and the Chicago Art Institute, choosing an artwork for the school to study each month. Studying art, painting, and design goes as far back as Kathy can remember and she continues to take advantage of learning opportunities whenever they are available. Kathy finds inspiration from nature with a special interest in landscapes. She is also drawn to studies of interiors, especially Mexican themes and floral studies in watercolor. “I love pure color and use whimsy whenever possible.” In addition to painting, Kathy also teaches at numerous schools in her area. Kathy’s work is shown in many galleries and is popular with collectors both nationally and internationally. With private collections as far reaching as Japan and Sweden, Kathy’s work is also well represented by corporate collectors such as Neiman Marcus, I Magnin, and Nordstrom.
