Kurt Solmssen

Biography

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kurt Solmssen has been focusing on art and artistic expression throughout his life. At the age of 23, he participated in his first group exhibition, while studying at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. After receiving his degree, Kurt continued his studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and received his B. F. A. in 1996. Before his graduation, Solmssen presented his work in his first solo exhibition at the Marian Locks Gallery in Philadelphia. Since that time, Solmssen has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions from New York to California to Washington. He paints daily for ten months of the year and the remaining time, one month each Spring and Fall, Solmssen restores outdoor sculptures. Solmssen’s artwork can be seen in numerous galleries and is owned by a large number of private and corporate collectors including Harron Corporation, Swedish Hospital, Federal Reserve Bank, and Glaxo Smith Kline.
