Emile Munier

Biography

Emile Munier was born in Paris in 1810 and made a career for himself as a genre and portrait painter, specialising particularly in the portrayal of children, especially in outdoor settings.

He worked with Lucas and Bouguereau and, from 1869 to 1895, Munier exhibited his paintings at the Salon. He also worked with Emile Gallé, who was both a colleague and a friend.

Munier's beautiful and sentimental paintings have always been sought-after and his work is still popular and highly valued on the rare occasions on which it turns up at auction today.

His date of death is unknown , but was probably around 1895.
