William Hart

Biography

William Hart was born in 1830 and became one of the most eminent artists of birds and wildlife in the Victorian era.

In particular, William Hart is associated with the famous bird illustrator John Gould. He made his living principally as a colourer of plates, and he continued this occupation while drawing and lithographing for Gould. As an artist and lithographer, he worked on The Birds of Great Britain, The Birds of Asia, The Birds of New Guinea and on a number of other famous publications of the time.

William Hart died in 1908.
