Born in Holland in 1959, Hans Paus is a passionate modern artist who finds his inspiration surrounded by his native soil of the Twente region. This ancient landscape, as well as impressions from his travels provide a great source of inspiration which can be seen throughout his work.
Paus uses many techniques and over the years he has developed a recognisable style which reflects his principal aim to catch and intensify the atmosphere in light and colour. His palette knife paintings unveil a neo-impressionistic style and although he paints in thick layers with a ‘wet on wet’ style, he succeeds in creating the impression of a smoothly set up painting. During this process Paus does stray away from the reality but never so much as to cause a break between the original source of the image and his own creation and interpretation of it. By using sparkling and vivid colours to create the efficient light effects, Paus gets as much as possible out of his themes whilst giving a contemporary twist of his own.
Hans Paus’s work is characterised by his striving for poetic impressions where ‘optimism’ and ‘lust for life’ are keywords in his work so far. Paus’s paintings are sold in original and print form all around the world.
