Martin Decent
Biography
Martin Decent was born and lives in Sheffield. His paintings are essentially preceptions of places or subjects - half remembered, half forgotten. Colour is very important to Martin, and he incorporates paint, resin, sand, gold leaf, cloth material , gesso and found objects in his work to create a highly textured finish. Martin states; 'Recurring symbolism or totems alongside 'found objects' and collage has always been important in my work. None of these paintings are intended to be realistic; they are more my interpretation of subjects that are intended to interact with the individual'. Martin has exhibited in London and throughout Yorkshire and the North West. In addition to his painting career, he has also produced books about painting techniques, and his work also regularly appears in 'The Artist', 'International Artist' and 'Painting with Watercolour' magazines.Martin Decent images appear in:
