Valerie Douglas

Biography

Born in Cheshire, England, Valerie Douglas first trained in pharmacy before studying for a BA in Fine Art in 1988. She moved to Ireland in 1995 and is now a widely acclaimed artist. Experiences from other art forms such as literature, poetry and theatre and personal day to day experiences weave their way into her canvases and prompt original perspectives.

Valerie Douglas has sold work to Eagle Star Insurance and was awarded the Special Purchase Prize by the Cheltenham and Gloucester Building Society. She has worked extensively on a commission basis in England, Portugal, Gibraltar and Ireland.
