Joyce Kamikura

Biography

Joyce was born in Canada, raised in Japan, and now resides in Canada, with her husband, daughter and son. Years after obtaining her Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration at the University of British Columbia, she studied art at Kwantlen and Langara Colleges.

In addition to her delicate and exquisite watercolors, many of her latest works include vibrant colors and entertaining visual textures in mixed water media. Her subtle and soft treatments of forms interplay with her strongly defined shapes. “My paintings represent my personal response to my environment. My ideas are not whole, but fragments of what fascinates me and are seeds from which my work begins to develop.”
