Sydney Clarke

Biography

As inspirational surroundings go, Sydney Clarke’s hometown of Birmingham provided a great wealth of urban and human interest, which fired his imagination. He moved to Stafford to study painting, and after he achieved his degree, stayed in the Midlands to pursue his dream of becoming a professional artist.

Sydney took to framing like a duck to water and found that this was an effective way of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and presence in the art world. His heavily textured works are designed to be framed without glass. He says, “I would love for people to be able to come right up to the work, to experience that it is almost a three-dimensional piece.”

Seeing numerous pieces of artwork pass through his hands during framing was the catalyst for Sydney to produce his own art. Currently working out of a studio with a number of other artists, he is creating very distinctive works, very often with a culinary theme as cooking is his other great love.
